The 2022 theme is "Back with a Bang." After a two-year hiatus, the parade is thrilled to be "Back with a Bang" and celebrating with the community again. The 2022 parade will be extra-special to thank the community for sticking together and their continued support. The 2022 parade will feature additional entertainment, music, and local and national personalities.
Pittsfield Parade History
The Pittsfield Parade has been a tradition since the early 1800s. Some residents believe the first parade occurred in 1812, while others believe the first parade was in 1824. Either way, the parade has been a wonderful way for the community to gather, honor veterans, and celebrate America.

The whole community comes together to form a spectacular parade. Past parades have featured a massive astronaut bear float. The Youth Alive Step, Dance, and Drumline group usually joins in the parade and impresses the community as kids dance and keep the beat on drums. Other past paraders include Pittsfield High School Varsity Cheerleaders, a 40-ft high Kung Fu Panda, and a massive Liberty Bell float.

Throughout the summer, the parade committee will hold fundraisers. These fundraisers are a great way to support the community and enjoy a fun night out. Previous fundraisers have included bingo nights and musical concerts.
Excited families start picking out their parade viewing spots as early as 6:00 AM. The parade starts at 10:00 AM, so if you arrive early, bring snacks, drinks, and activities for the kids. Attendees should dress for the weather and consider sun protection, rain protection, or both.

Immediately before the parade, the community hosts a 5K fun run. The 2022 run is the first run since 2019. The family-friendly run begins at 9:15 AM and runs the parade route. Thousands of residents and visitors join together to experience this community-run. Participants range from weekend warriors to dedicated runners, and all are welcome. The run is a great way for the community to focus on health and fitness.
