Pittsfield is crazy about pets. So if you are looking to travel with your dog and enjoy activities together, you can't beat Pittsfield.

TIPS FOR TRAVELING TO MASSACHUSETTS WITH PETS

The best way to enjoy traveling with pets is to find a dog-friendly city. Pittsfield has dog-friendly accommodations, parks, hikes, and restaurants. After nearly 20 years of planning, Pittsfield also just opened up a dog park. It's a great place to explore with your best friend.

PITTSFIELD DOG PARK

Dogs playing at the park

The dog park is a great place to let your dog run and meet other dogs. The dog park is completely fenced, and dogs can run off-leash.

Here, dogs run and play with other dogs, and their humans can enjoy watching their tails wag. The fenced area has a large grassy area with two play areas. One place is for dogs under 30 pounds, and another is for dogs over 30 pounds.

The dog park has a walking path, benches, and waste bags. Dogs love the dog-sized water fountain, which is perfect for rehydrating after getting some exercise.

DOG HIKE AT BASH BISH FALLS STATE PARK

Bash Bish Falls

Bash Bish Falls is Massachusetts’ highest waterfall. The park is dog-friendly, and the whole family will enjoy hiking and experiencing the stunning waterfall. The final portion of Bash Bish Falls drops 80 feet into a gorgeous emerald pool.

Bash-Bish Falls lies on the New York-Massachusetts border. While on the hiking trails, pets must be on a leash at all times. Guests should wear sturdy shoes as the trails and rocks can be slippery.

Bash Bish Falls offers three different hiking options, ranging in length and difficulty.

FROM MASSACHUSETTS PARKING LOT

The hiking trail from the Massachusetts parking lot is about .6 miles round-trip. However, it is rated difficult because of the rugged and strenuous climb.

FROM NEW YORK PARKING LOT

This hike is rated as moderate and is about 1.5 miles round-trip. The hike is longer and has a more gradual incline. The hike is rocky and uneven, so visitors should use caution as they hike.

SOUTH TACONIC TRAIL

Access the South Taconic Trail from Taconic State Park. This trail is 12.4 miles long and is rated as moderate to difficult.

DOG-FRIENDLY PLACES TO EAT

Berkshire has a wide assortment of cuisine, and many restaurants are pet-friendly. Restaurants with patio seating welcome dogs and offer a lovely way to dine al-fresco with your pet.
